The second cohort of Africa Fact-Checking Fellowship – Ethiopia (AFF-ETH) in Mekelle, Tigray region, we initiated the second cohort of the Africa Fact-Checking Fellowship-ETH. This project is a major step in enhancing digital resilience and combating misinformation in the region at large.
Fifteen committed individuals, from various groups around Tigray, went on a mission to become proficient fact-checkers and help create a more informed online environment. The fellowship seeks to give these people the skills and information they need to recognize and stop the spread of mis/disinformation.
#defyhatenow in Ethiopia seeks to support those voices acting against the conflict to go ‘viral’ within and outside the country – bringing the diaspora into the online peace building framework, bridging gaps of knowledge and awareness of social media mechanisms between those with access to technology and those without.
