defyhatenow_Ethiopia convened the Ethiopian Social Media Hate Speech Mitigation Field Guide Peer Review Session, a collaborative event where experts gathered to critically assess and enhance our initiatives. This first session focused on providing in-depth feedback on the field guide’s initial draft, specifically addressing three key areas: 1. Identity and Context, 2. Media Information Literacy, and 3. Art for Peacebuilding. Through dynamic discussions and insightful critiques, participants worked to strengthen the guide and ensure our programs effectively contribute to building resilient and peaceful communities. This event underscored the value of peer learning and collective development.
#defyhatenow in Ethiopia seeks to support those voices acting against the conflict to go ‘viral’ within and outside the country – bringing the diaspora into the online peace building framework, bridging gaps of knowledge and awareness of social media mechanisms between those with access to technology and those without.
