#defyhatenow Ethiopia hosted a two-day interactive workshop with 30 students from journalism and social science departments at Bahir Dar University. The sessions focused on misinformation, media ethics, peace journalism, and fact-checking tools.
Highlights included:
• Critical analysis of information disorder
• Hands-on fact-checking using digital tools
• Strategic peace messaging activities
• Launch of the #defyhatenow Bahir Dar University Club, a student-led initiative for media literacy and peace advocacy
On the final day, 20 academic leaders joined to explore how higher education can combat disinformation and promote ethical media engagement.
This workshop marks a strong step toward empowering youth to lead responsible media practices and foster peaceful dialogue across communities.
