Event co-organised by Civic Watch through the #defyhatenow initiative and Pan African University Institute of Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS)
The event will be participatory, inclusive and representative of the five regions of Africa. An official opening ceremony to be presided by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cameroon, H.E Dr Corrina Fricke, with key personalities from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, the Cameroon National Youth Council, distinguished professors from Public and Private Universities. The Pan-African University campus of Yaounde and Buea will equally be fully engaged alongside Civic Watch team members.
In addition to masterclasses, panels will take on different sub-themes drawn from the main theme; Cultivating a Culture of Peace. Panel discussion will consist of experts from UN agencies, development partners, diplomatic corps, government, and academia.
#defyhatenow in Cameroon seeks to support those voices acting against the conflict to go ‘viral’ within and outside the country – bringing the diaspora into the online peace building framework, bridging gaps of knowledge and awareness of social media mechanisms between those with access to technology and those without.
