In commemoration of the International Peace Day 2021, this piece of work is written, produced and published to inspire peace and social cohesion all over the world, from the the individual and family level to corporate, national and international levels. We hope to celebrate the selfless heroic actions of the incredible peace builders and frontline humanitarian workers who have pushed boundaries and risked their lives to keep us all safe.
In line with the theme for this year: ‘Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world’; we celebrate and thank all the frontline healthcare workers who have worked tirelessly, risking their lives to keep us all healthy and safe during this #COVID19 pandemic.
For those who’ve lost loved ones owing to #COVID19 or the violent conflicts in Cameroon and other parts of the world; our thoughts and prayers go to your families. We pray for you and stand with you.
We hope that through this work, we can inspire and encourage someone to keep pursuing the right and just course regardless of the obstacles that they may face on the way. We all say #NoToHateSpeech and #NoToViolence

The video is part of the #Strawacademy #Art4Peace Project ‘The #OneAfrica Series’, an initiative of the r0g_agency for Open Culture and Critical Transformation, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The project has as mission to combat Hate Speech and incitement to violence and build Peace and Social Cohesion in the Southwest and Northwest Regions of Cameroon with the use of Audiovisual Art (#Artivism).

W-O-R-D-S is a Spoken Word Audio / Video project created by Mac Alunge, Pen Boy and God Dance. The video is part of the #Strawacademy #Art4Peace Project, called ‘#OneAfrica Series’, under #defyhatenow Cameroon commissioned by r0g_agency for Open Culture and Critical Transformation, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The #defyhatenow Cameroon initiative mandate is to strengthen the voices and support the actions of youth, the community and media oriented civil society organizations to counter social media-based hate speech, conflict rhetoric and directed online incitement to violence in response to Cameroon’s ‘Anglophone Crisis’.

#Kifaya Literally Translates To #Enough. (2018)
The song #KIFAYA was written and the music video produced during a #defyhatenow peacebuilding workshop in 2018. The workshop was initiated by Platform Africa and Talent211 entertainment in collaboration with #defyhatenow to magnify the voices of the South Sudanese musicians as peace builders in the diaspora, calling for an end to the conflicts in South Sudan. It passes a message that aims to strengthen and embrace unity in diversity. Just as conflicts are created by a critical mass of angry, frustrated, vengeful people so can peace be created by a critical mass of people focused on peaceful thoughts through art and especially music, as it is a universal language.

Impact Conversations
During the #Peacejam 2018 by #defyhatenow on the international day of peace – September 21st, the song was performed at a concert in the Rhino Camp Settlement, Uganda. We recently caught up with Freeboy and Honey Frank to reflect on the experience of the workshops and concert.
Credits; #PeaceJam is a defyhatenow initiative aimed at connecting South Sudanese and peace jammers around the world on UN World #PeaceDay to increase the visibility of South Sudan online in the context of peace.
#PEACE4ALL (2016)
South Sudan, the world’s youngest nation is feared to be at the brink of a possible genocide due to the alarming ethnic conflicts in the country. The UNSC calls for a swift action to stop this process from developing and to avoid the 1994 kind of genocide in Rwanda. The #DefyHateNow #PeaceVillage initiative called to focus the factors responsible for intensifying the current situation in South Sudan and organized series of trainings with refugees in RhinoCamp.
The #PeaceVillage is a media education and hate speech mitigation program aimed at transforming all war mongering mediums to peace building and to give people the necessary knowledge to speak up, educate others and to learn the ethics they should employ in conveying sensitive information.
A song and video called #PEACE4ALL was produced for a broader outreach.
